Join Wilder Herbertson for a collaborative, hands-on workshop celebrating all things mushroom-dye! This hour-and-a-half-long journey will carry us through the Actual Literal Forest Magic that is extracting pigment from fungi, exploring and manipulating the various variables that shift the resulting color, and dyeing fiber to make vibrant and breathtaking colors. You’ll get to dye four unique silk handkerchiefs to take home (they make great holiday gifts!), learn about mushroom dyeing and other considerations like ethical harvest, and ignite (and/or stoke!) your passion for engaging with our fungal forest friends. Come prepared to gasp and clutch your pearls at some of the transformations undergone by these pigments!
