THE FIRST ANNUAL FORAGE MENDOCINO MUSHROOM SYMPOSIUM + FORAGERS’ FAIRE 2023
2023’s Innaugural Forage Mendocino Mushroom Symposium + Foragers’ Faire was a roaring success; with a shoestring budget and only 6 weeks to plan, we pulled it off and have left the public wanting more! The Second Annual Forage Mendocino Mushroom Symposium & Foragers’ Faire, 12/13-12/15 promises to be bigger and better! We have partnered with Mendo Parks, Little River Inn, SCP Mendo Farm and Inn, and Inn at Schoolhouse Creek as our venue sponsors and preferred attendee lodging. We have sponsorships from many fabulous Mendocino County businesses, including Harvest Market, with more to be announced shortly.
This year we have a star-studded lineup of mycologists, citizen scientists, local Indigenous tribe members, chefs, musicians, influencers, vendors and artists to bring you a weekend of education, entertainment, and nourishment. Alan Rockefeller, Dr. Gordon Walker, Noah Siegel, Co Author of Mushrooms of the Redwood Coast + Mushrooms of Cascadia, Mandie Quark, Mama Grows Funk, and so many more are part of this exciting line up. This Symposium features our Flora, Fauna + Fungi Costume Gala feat. Mama Grows Funk, educational panels, and workshops, a five-course mushroom-tasting dinner, a two-day Foragers' Faire craft market, guided forays, and more.
Forage Mendocino is an educational and events organization advocating for ethical wild foraging practices and greater foraging access for the public to publicly and privately held lands. Our annual Mushroom Symposium and Foragers’ Faire in Little River, Ca, showcases the remarkable independently owned Mendocino County small businesses, makers, artists, citizen scientists, and Natural Science professionals who feed the hearts and souls of locals and tourists alike. Our demographic reach is national, with big concentrations in the SF/Bay Area and Mendocino County. Our Facebook Group has 13.6K active members and is growing every day. Proceeds from this weekend go to Forage Mendocino and our parnters, Mendo Parks, 501 c3, whose mission is "to inspire and ensure stewardship of the State Parks in Mendocino County." Mendo Parks funds educational programs in the Mendocino Coast's local State Parks. Naturalists/ interpreters and experienced docents provide various programs to a broad spectrum of ages. Through their Jr. Rangers, Junior Lifeguard Program, Latino Outdoors, Park Brochures, and other educational programs, Mendo Parks fosters park access and outdoor education for a diverse range of Mendocino County residents and visitors.
